What Comes After the Death?

 Por Roberto C. P. Júnior

For those who are content with ready answers for the fundamental questions of our human existence, here too, as in anywhere else, one will not need to make any effort of deeper introspection. They will only have the work to  choose . Because each religion, sect or philosophy has already undertaken that responsibility and has made available to those interested, a singular conception of life after death, which ends up automatically valid for a  specific region of the globe, according to the geographical area in which this belief is disseminated. Thus, apart from the countless nuances of denominations and interpretations, the majority of the western civilization population will go to somewhere like  heaven or hell,  based whether or not  they followed the belief guidelines. The majority of the eastern civilization population will disappear into some type of nirvana or will undertake the supervision of those  still alive on Earth. As for the materialists, who despite their lack of spiritual conviction, number within the millions throughout the world, will became  the “absolute nothingness” so much desired.

On the extreme opposite are those that devote their lives in search for the solution of the unfathomable mysteries of life and  death based  exclusively on the intellect, excluding therefore  any further higher understanding. As the intellect is nothing more than a product of the earthly brain, it will never be capable – because of its own constitution – of examining things that are above the concepts of earthly time and space. Due to this, those that make up part of this group are in no better condition than those of the aforementioned groups that placidly accept, apathetically, any transcendental explanation through a third party. No doctorate in theology serves as a safe-conduit and much less as an escort for the beyond.

In reality both groups communally share the same vice, denominated “blind faith”. This is a very appropriate name, as none of the integrants really manage to see around the blinkers imposed by lifeless beliefs or inflexible studies that have been exclusively built upon intellectual thought. But with regard to the materialists it is not exactly blinkers, instead it is a spiritual shroud woven with exacting skill by they themselves, with which they have wrapped themselves in form head to toe parading through life,  showing their false  pride. There is really no reason why one should waste time or words with these that have skillfully dug their own spiritual grave. Let them continue, as their task seems so important, so edifying, to them that they shall bury themselves mutually in a collective grave.

Only a tiny part of humanity is in condition of examining what is   waiting for them at  the other side of life. They are the few that instead of bowing down to the impositions of the brain  follows courageously the principles of the heart; they are the ones that try to hear and follow their inner voice, the intuition, opposing the orders of the intellect. With regard to faith, they are the ones that only accept what they can understand, and thus the only ones that doing so , allow  themselves to become alive inside. In short they are the ones who are truly owners of themselves, of their own destiny, but not slaves to the intellect or rigid dogmas. And those, free like this, are unfortunately few in number.

But it is precisely these ones that shall intuit, with crystalline clarity, what eventually each one shall find on the other side awaiting for them.  And that will be  exactly what  they forged for themselves, through all that they emanated, whether  thoughts, or actions, or their inner desire. Nothing more than this, for they know, with all clarity, that in the next life there can simply neither be distinction or separation of any creed or species, or any differentiation engineered by the earthly intellect. There, there are no more ideologies, there are neither hymns nor flags, and there is no money or honors. There are no Christians, Jews, Moslems, Spiritualists, Hindus, Buddhists or Shin Taoists, but  human souls, simply human souls that have to render accounts of how they used the time granted them whilst they were here on Earth.

There, there is no longer any outer form of blind faith, mechanically memorized, but only the true inner faith, and in the exact measure in which this is truly alive in the respective human spirit. It is the content, and not the shape that counts. In that world what counts is the legitimacy of the veneration to the Creator, and the vivacity of the gratitude to Him, and not the quantity of prayers recited during the years on Earth. What has true value there is the true love to the neighbor, profoundly intuited, and not the number or value of the alms distributed on Earth, as so many suppose in their un-confessed foolish hope that these should be credited to them somehow in the next life, like a metaphysical investment of guaranteed return.

Only living faith, vivified by the person himself, can transform itself into conviction, and only an inner conviction is capable of propelling him or her to ascend spiritually, to become an ever better human being, which is in fact a precept that has always been a fundament of any true doctrine. Only much later, when the followers and leaders of these pure original doctrines decided to “perfect them” through their own accord, were these very fundamental teachings relegated to second or third levels of importance, or even completely suppressed. Then in their place were inserted the empty forms of blind faith that do not demand any effort of inner improvement, and that is why they were always warmly welcomed by the followers, because of their chronic spiritual indolence. The millenary ode of dogmas took care in carefully wrapping their already half sleeping spirits, into a comfortable spiritual death-slumber.

We ourselves are the ones that have formed the material of the world that we shall step into after our death. This construction material that is at our disposition are the actions, thoughts and intuitions. These are the invisible bricks with which our much feared “beyond” is built of. And it is impossible to ascend the other realms of Creation without first entering this world and remaining there for a period of time; this world is nearest to our Earth of gross matter. And only those apt to proceed on the spiritual ascension and enter into the beautiful world of Paradise, correspondently more elevated, built in the conformity with the Laws of Creation from whence everything is sent forth for development and improvement.

These laws of Creation, or natural laws, are so simple, so logical and clear that they just escape present-day man’s comprehension. Yes, they are so simple that he is no longer capable of understanding them, being impeded by the sophisms of his intellect.  They permeate throughout Creation, thus also acting down here, on our small planet, with identical inflexibility, imperturbable, in its eternally uniform rhythm. If we make an effort to move to those blinkers one side, no matter how slightly, so that we can examine these Laws of Creation with a free spirit, we would already be able to recognize them without any difficulty.

We know, for example, that in a paddy field no stalk of wheat can ever sprout, and that in a bean pod there will never be a soybean. That is why if we sow thistles, we are certain that not a single flower will bloom from this seeding. It is so obvious that nobody doubts this fact. However, the same natural law that acts there in such an implacable manner, not admitting the slightest deviation in its effects, are the very same laws that equally act over the human being. Nor could it be any different, as it is nothing other than a mere fruit of Creation, as so many other things are.

When Jesus spoke the phrase: “WHAT A MAN SOWS HE WILL HARVEST”, he was transmitting the statement of this law, called “The Law of Reciprocity”. This Law of Creation that acts so unyieldingly with regard to the seeds produced by Nature, to the point that we don’t fully understand it, also act with the same inflexibility, with the same sureness and implacability with regard to the seeds produced by human beings, which are their intuition, their thoughts, their words and their actions.

These human seeds are equally planted in the “other world”, of a different material consistency, ethereal matter, also producing the respective fruit, which will have to be harvested and also consumed by the owner of the sowing, that is, by the one that generated them. What this generator did not harvest here on Earth, as the retroactive effect of this same Law of Reciprocity, he will unfailingly have to harvest in this so-called “beyond”. After his death he will then have to go to the world that he himself helped form, through the irrefutable effects of the Laws of Creation, delighting in happiness or enduring the torments, side by side with souls of the same vibration as his.

Because of this, it is in the hands of the human being himself, not only just to forge his destiny here on Earth, but also to categorically choose the type of world he is going to inhabit after death. Only he creates for himself this world according to his sowing, of which can either be pleasing, warm, full of light and happiness... or his own living hell.
